Startups Weekly AI News

August 25 - September 2, 2025

This week brought exciting news about AI agents changing how startups work. Several new companies got big money from investors to build smart computer helpers.

The biggest news was about three Excel-type agent companies that all got funding in August. Endex AI got $14 million from OpenAI, while Fundamental Research Labs raised $44.5 million for their product called Shortcut. Paradigm also got $5 million to build their AI tools.

A new company called Bluejay got $4 million to help test AI voice agents. The founders used to work at Amazon and Microsoft before starting their own business. They graduated from Y Combinator this spring and now help other companies make sure their AI assistants work properly.

In real estate, Carey Schwaber Armstrong, who used to work at Zillow, started a new company called Truelist. Her AI helper can save real estate agents 5-10 hours per listing by doing boring tasks like scheduling meetings.

Big tech companies are also making new AI tools. C3.ai made something called "C3 Agentic AI Websites" that can turn any website into a smart chatbot. Anthropic released a new browser agent that can help people use the internet better.

Experts say 2025 is "the year of agents" because these AI helpers are getting much better at doing multiple tasks instead of just answering single questions. Startups can now work with much smaller teams because AI agents can do jobs that used to need many people.
