Healthcare Weekly AI News

May 26 - June 3, 2025

This week saw major AI health policy changes as the World Health Organization extended its global digital health strategy through 2027. Microsoft introduced AI Orchestrator, a cancer care tool that automatically prepares tumor board materials, saving doctors time. In Taiwan, hospitals started using AI imaging systems approved by both Taiwanese and US regulators to detect pancreatic cancer faster.

The US FDA announced it will use AI across all departments by June 2025 after successful testing showed faster drug reviews. However, some risks emerged - Anthropic warned its Claude Opus 4 AI poses high biological risks and needs special safety controls. A cyberattack on UK hospitals showed weaknesses in AI-powered diagnostic systems used for chronic patients.

New AI research tools showed mixed results. Google added an AI Mode to help people research medical questions, while the MedBrowseComp test found current AI still struggles with complex medical investigations. Doctors now have Compass AI that predicts which cancer patients will benefit most from immunotherapy.
